Viscord® FR
Robust and sustainable: cellulose filament yarn from Viscord®
Viscord® by Glanzstoff is a natural viscose filament yarn brand. While characterized by a soft hand and liquid drape, Viscord® displays exceptional durability and nomelt / no-drip properties. Accordingly, it is equally suited for high-end fashion and garments for firefighters or military applications.
Viscord® filament yarn is absolutely eco-friendly: they are produced from sustainable wood pulp. The raw material only requires suitable soil and an environment favorable for growth. For Viscord®, only trees from certified and controlled plantations are used, no pesticides are utilized.
In contrast to synthetic materials such as nylon or polyester, cellulose-based Viscord® is biodegradable and compostable. It will not add to the marine litter problem or otherwise end up in the food chain. 1 kilogram of silk kills 6,600 silkworms. In the production of Viscord® there is no such issue.

Flame retardants: “when the mission gets hot”
Firefighters and soldiers* need flame-resistant garments that neither meltnor drip under heat and flame exposure. Unlike thermoplastics, cellulosebased Viscord® FR has an excellent LOI of 26%. With its cool touch and low coefficient of friction, it is perfect for hood liners, stretch fabrics, softshell fabrics, base layers, and shirting.
Viscord® FR does not contain halogens or otherwise toxic flame retardants. Its fire-resistant properties are not reduced by washing, dry cleaning, or by abrasion. The yarn is available in two varieties: in 150 dtex, it is a perfect material for textile applications. A courser yarn count of 2440 dtex is mainly used for stretch-breaking to produce long staple fibers.
Remark: * Viscose is approved by the US military and is Berry-compliant.

High tenacity for highest demands”
For all its robust tenacity, Viscord® HT offers excellent wearing comfort. Its brilliant visual appearance and silk-like touch make it a highly popular material in haute couture. At the same time, it is suitable for heavy-duty base layer garments due to its natural moisture managing properties, creating natural comfort. Other applications include sportswear, car interiors, and sewing threads. Fabrics produced from Viscord® HT are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Low electrostatics add to its wearing comfort. In addition, Viscord® HT has excellent durability: On Martindale tests it withstood over 100.000 turns and it has been laundered up to 100 cycles, with no evidence of pilling or degradation.
