Functional Materials
The Indorama Mobility Group Functional Segment represents a traditional core business of yarn, cord and fabric from polyester, polyamide 6, 4.6 and 6.6, rayon and aramid for MRG and industrial applications.
Indorama Mobility Group synergistically pulled together the manufacturing sites and product portfolio of PHP Fibers, Performance Fibers, Glanzstoff and Kordarna Plus to satisfy customers’ local need worldwide. As user industries continue to pursue higher performance, we have developed products of high tenacity, fire- retarding, hybrid materials, sustainable, composites to meet requirement in various applications.
Functional Materials Markets Served
The Mechanical rubber goods (MRG) market segment covers a diversified and specialized range of applications such as reinforcements for conveyor belts, industrial and automotive power transmission belts, timing belts, and various kinds of industrial and automotive hoses. Textile cords and fabrics are needed in MRG composites as they determine such critical properties as strength, elongation, creep and dynamic behaviors. The Indorama Mobility Group has production capabilities in 3 global regions and contributes to these application fields with yarns, cord and fabrics made from standard polyester (PET), HMLS PET, polyamide 6.6, polyamide 6, aramids and hybrids-all tailored to the specific needs of mechanical rubber goods with the goal of offering increased value through improved performance.
The KORDPLAST technical rubbers consists of a wide range of rubber profiles made to strict requirement and specifications including that for as hoses, sealing, washer cutting, cut-off rubber rings. http://www.kordplast.cz/en
Broad fabrics cover a wide and diverse range of various applications, where the Indorama Mobility Group supplies both polyester and polyamide, to provide our customers with high-quality yarns to meet the demanding needs of the various end-uses.
Typical uses in this market segment are textile constructions including tents, sailcloth, roofing membranes, light weight conveyor belts, inflatables or peel-ply fabrics. These fabrics, coated or uncoated, may be woven, warp-knitted or produced as laid scrims.
Indorama Mobility Group as one of the competitive players offers a broad portfolio of Diolen® and DSP ® (PET) and Enka® Nylon (PA 6.6) filament yarns of high strength and dimensional stability. The products address application markets where fiber cleanliness, uniformity and high processing efficiency are key factors in the production of industrial broad fabrics.
Furthermore, excellent optical quality and translucency are of outstanding importance for textile constructions, tents, billboards and sailcloth. Ultra-low shrinkage - a major feature of Diolen® 170ST and 174 - is crucial for all those fabrics (except sailcloth) processed at higher temperatures. The hydrophobic finish of antiwicking DIOLEN type 175SLC reduces surface tensions so that - and therefore the PVC-coated fabrics cannot be soiled.
The RNTS market requires high strength and durable material to support their functions. In off-shore mooring (OSM), high strength-to-weight rope made high modulus-twisted polyester coated with special Seagardo marine overlay finish deliver the highest level of durability and performance predictability.
The composites and specialties market segment caters to industries seeking alternative materials to deliver new functions in response to trends in lightweighting, comfort, cost reduction, and compliance of regulations.
A recent development of the next generation of Enka® TecTape Hybrid Roving making conversion into fiber-reinforced composites more versatile than before: Its constant dimensions and smooth surface are ideal for the wasteless, load-pathoriented tailored fiber placement (TFP) production of economic lightweight textiles. The newly developed low-shrink matrix fiber material enables the conversion into demanding composites even under low pressure conditions.
Breathair®, an air-permeable and lightweight and recyclable innovative 3D structure nonwoven solution for everywhere you sit, lay down and relax. From a slim, flexible protective layer to a thick cushioning, Breathair® is the material for multiple applications. Being highly water-repellent, exceptionally air-permeable and lighter than polyurethane at the same level of hardness plus its rubbery elasticity makes Breathair® exceptionally durable.
C-Viscord® is a specially prepared yarn for carbonising for the Aerospace industry. Due to its unique thermal resistivity properties, it is use as alternative raw materials for carbon fibers for woven carbon fabrics.
Viscord®FR is a unique flame retardant viscose filament yarn, which is used in high-end personal protection equipment. The flame retardant properties are achieved by incorporation of an FR Pigment during the yarn spinning process. Viscord® FR has a cool and silky touch and which gives an excellent wearing comfort.
